The 'TAG 24' x 'GPBD 4' F6 population of 266 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) was planted at IABT Garden, Department of Biotechnology, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, India during the rainy seasons of 2011, 2013, and 2014. A randomized block design was chosen for the studies with 2 replicates. 'TAG 24' represents a late leaf spot (LLS) and rust disease susceptible line, whereas the variety 'GPBD 4' is resistant to both pathogens. The RILs were screened for LLS and rust reactions in the field under artificial disease epiphytotic conditions using the spreader row technique. The disease scores for LLS and rust (modified 9-point scale) were estimated at 70, 80, and 90 days after sowing (DAS). The LLS and rust scores also included data from 8 rainy seasons (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 early sown, 2007 late sown, 2008, 2009, 2010) collected previously [Khedikar, Gowda et al., 2010a; Sujay, Gowda et al., 2012a]. The mean data for all 11 seasons were pooled for many statistical analyses (ANOVA, GCV, PCV, heritability, trait correlations). Single marker association (SMA) and quantitative trait loci (QTL) analyses were carried out using phenotypic data for 37 traits (LLS-70 DAS-8 seasons, LLS-80 DAS-2 seasons, LLS-90 DAS-9 seasons, rust-70 DAS-2 seasons, rust-80 DAS-8 seasons, rust-90 DAS-8 seasons).
