Overview
Evaluations of resistance to Meloidogyne arenaria race 1 were carried out using a population of 82 F6 recombinant inbred lines (RILs), their wild A-genome parents [Arachis duranensis K7988 (susceptible), Arachis stenosperma V10309 (resistant)] and Arachis hypogaea cv. Florunner (susceptible control). This experiment was performed in a greenhouse in 2013 using a randomized complete block design. Temperatures were established at 28-35 C and 24 C during the day and night, respectively. Five plants from each genotype (4 weeks of age) were inoculated with 50,000 eggs of M. arenaria. Roots were phenotyped for the production of both galls and eggs 11 weeks following inoculation.
