| Description | Plant erect. Flowers yellow. Fruits large, 4-6.5 cm long, 1.5-2 cm diam. w/marked constriction, bi-modal, small beak, rounded reticulation, containing 2-3 large, pink seeds. Planted in June, harvested today = 4 months. Harvested by loosening sand beneath plant with a longhandled shovel ("coa") and then uprooting the plant. Has apparently entirely replaced a runner variety that used to be grown here about 10 yrs. ago. Preferred because it is easier to harvest. |
